Best Ticket in NY Sports

The Islanders at Barclays is the best ticket in NY sports. The islanders have remained on Long Island (Yes, Brooklyn in on Long Island) and are now at a hub area with tremendous amounts of public transportation and amenities nearby. Who wants ot risk a DUI and drive? Taking the train is the superior option. The pre-gaming at Barclays cannot be beat. Tons of live Islanders bars nearby - McMahons or the Montrose- Delicious Brooklyn pizza such as Artichoke or Pizzatown. . The Islanders are still the peoples team as opposed to the corporate stiff team that plays on Manhattan island. The best fans in NY sports live at Barclays Center in section 228-229. Every game I have gone too have been great experiences. Every New Yorker and NY tourist should check out a game if they can. The levels of excitement generate by the Islanders is awesome. The bad sight lines gives this place character! Most of the seats are good. Just suggest avoiding section 201 & 231. Barclays is the hockey version of Fenway Park, it is unique and awesome. Do not listen to the haters.

The Real Islanders Are Here

If you were anywhere near a television to watch this game or at the game you were not let down. This team started off slow but got a kick in the you know what! Everyone talks about this is a last place team but one coach across town said it best "you make think this team is in last place but their not a last place team" (NY Rangers coach). The Islanders started the night off slow and sluggish but then the skates caught fire when the islanders Jason Chimera went fist of cuffs on Lukas Sedlak. This started the on onslaught of scoring for the Isles and they tied the score in the 2nd period from an assist fromJohn Tavares to Josh Bailey at the 2:21 mark. Then fourteen minutes later John Tavares and Calvin De Haan assisted Nikolay Kulemin goal at 16:29 to give the Isles a first time lead of 2-1 at the end of the 2nd period. At the start of 3rd peroid within 35 seconds Nick Leddy and Adam Pelech assisted Brock Nelson with his (10) goal of the season to give the Isles a 3-1 lead. Nearly 5 mins later unassisted Jason Chimera nails his (10th) goal of the season to give the Isles a commanding lead of 4-1. The Isles went on to win the game 4-2 behind great goal-tending from Thomas Greiss who faced 23 shots on goal and 21 saves. The Isles face the first place Montreal Canadians Jan 26 and with a win could place them within 5 points of a Wild Card Playoff spot before the NHL All-Star break in LA.

Building and Staff just couldn't handle the crowd

It was great to see the Isles back home, however the fun OT win was overshadowed by how terrible of an experience it is to visit this arena. Somehow it was simply impossible to get food, impossible. Lines were literally 75-100 feet long, in the middle of the hockey period; imagine during the intermissions. The only food that vendors that walked around were selling was beer and cotton candy. For something as simple as a pretzel, or a bag of peanuts, one would have to miss a good portion of the game, while trying to hold your spot in the huge line in the mobbed corridor. Forget the bathrooms, everyone knows the Coliseum simply doesn't have enough, and the lines are monstrous. It blows my mind that this place closed for over a year to be "renovated", yet none of the original issues were addressed. I feel like saying to whoever oversaw the renovation plans "You had one job to do here!". It would have been relatively cheap To widen the jam packed corridors, and add some food service; but instead they raise prices, reduced food stands, and jammed more cluttering nonsense into the corridor. It's really a shame. What a waste.
